Product Description

Bariatric Advantage Chewable Calcium Citrate tablets are specially formulated for bariatric patients, utilizing 500 mg calcium from only calcium citrate and delivering 500 IU of vitamin D3 to support calcium absorption. Available in delicious flavors like Dark Cherry, Chocolate, and Cinnamon. Sugar-free.

  • Calcium citrate is more bioavailable than some other forms of calcium, and is recommended for bariatric patients.1 It can be taken any time of the day, with or without food while other forms of calcium need to be taken with food for absorption. Additionally, calcium citrate may be more easily absorbed by patients who have had bariatric procedures that result in reduced stomach acids, as it does not require stomach acids for absorption.1 Calcium requires vitamin D3 for absorption.

ASMBS guidelines call for 1,200-1,500 mg calcium per day for patients most bariatric procedure types, with the exception ofBiliopancreatic DiversionDuodenal Switch (BPD-DS) patients, where they call for 1,800-2,400 mg per day.2 Divided doses are recommended with no more than 500 mg being consumed at once.

Calcium is a critical nutrient for bones and teeth–99% of calcium is found in teeth and bones. It also plays an important role in tissue health and nervous system health, along with muscle contraction.*

Disappointed

Since my vsg, I’ve taken B.A. 250mg chews for many years. I’ve recently been told I have osteoporosis and was advised to up my calcium so because of cost I went to 2 B.A. 500 mg chews and the chewable, ICK! I was only taking one chewable a day but after a week decided I just couldn’t do it. Large, thick and quite truthfully, I can’t describe the taste.

Buyer's Remorse

I really wish I had not purchased this. The taste is horrible and it makes me gag. Unfortunately in my plan to save money, I purchased the largest bottle, for three months. I don't know how I am going to get through the bottle but I can't afford to try something else at the moment. Disappointed.

Dry, powdery

I ordered these accidentally, thinking they were the chewy bites. They're an acquired taste, to put it kindly. They are VERY dry and powdery and always need a little water to wash them down. The taste is actually pretty good (I have the wild cherry), if only it didn't feel like I was eating chalk. I gave them 3 stars because I can get them down just fine and I managed to get through a bottle of 90, but I won't order again.

Your Healthy Chocolate Fix

I have tried both the cherry and chocolate flavors. By far the better of the two is the chocolate.

The cherry burns your tongue, but the chocolate gives you that bit of guilty pleasure.

Yes, the chocolate is a bit powdery and can be chalky and dry. But it's honestly worth it. You get a chocolate fix 3x a day. These are especially good after eating peanut butter.

Overall, I would definitely recommend these and am so continuing to order them.

Tastes TERRIBLE!

I love wild cherry flavor and thought these would be my ticket to maintaining healthy calcium levels. They taste terrible! I can't hardly choke down 1 tablet, much less the 3 recommended daily. I'd rate them zero stars but that's not an option!
